Why do we use camera surveillance?

We use camera surveillance to:

• prevent and investigate unauthorised access,
• prevent and investigate theft, vandalism and sabotage,
• protect employees, visitors, premises, equipment and information,
• manage security incidents,
• assist the police, insurance companies or other authorised parties when necessary in connection with an incident.

What personal data do we process?

The personal data that may be processed is video footage where individuals can be directly or indirectly identified.

This may include, for example:

• face,
• body movements,
• clothing,
• vehicles,
• vehicle registration numbers,
• time and location where a person passes through a camera-monitored area.

Audio is normally not recorded.

Where does camera surveillance take place?

Camera surveillance may take place in and around Varbergs Precision AB’s premises, for example at entrances, gates, façades, loading areas, parking areas, yard areas, warehouses and other security-critical areas.

Camera-monitored areas are marked with signs.

Legal basis

The legal basis for the processing is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR.

Our legitimate interest is to protect our business, premises, property, employees, visitors and information, and to prevent, detect and investigate security incidents.

We have carried out a balancing test and assessed that the camera surveillance is necessary and proportionate in relation to these purposes.

How long is the footage stored?

Recorded camera footage is normally stored for 7 days.

Footage may be stored for a longer period if necessary to investigate an incident, handle an insurance matter, file a police report, establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or comply with another legal obligation.

When the footage is no longer needed, it is deleted.

Who may access the footage?

Only authorised personnel may access camera footage.

The following categories of recipients may have access where necessary:

• authorised persons at Varbergs Precision AB,
• technical suppliers and service partners,
• security partners or alarm monitoring services,
• the police or other public authorities,
• insurance companies or legal representatives.

Suppliers who process personal data on behalf of Varbergs Precision AB must be covered by a data processing agreement.

Transfers outside the EU/EEA

Camera footage shall, as a general rule, be processed within the EU/EEA.

If personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, this will only take place where there is a lawful basis under GDPR, for example through the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved transfer mechanism.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• request information about the processing,
• request access to personal data,
• request rectification,
• request erasure in certain cases,
• object to processing based on legitimate interest,
• request restriction of processing in certain cases.

These rights may be limited if the footage also contains other individuals, if the footage is needed to investigate a crime or security incident, or if we have legal grounds to continue processing the data.
